Rules for taking part in 100 van Leeghwater
Hikers may register as a participant on www.100vanleeghwater.nl.
Participants will receive a confirmation of their registration after their personal details have been received by Stichting 100 van Leeghwater, and after the registration fee has been transferred to the account of Stichting 100 van Leeghwater.
Participants confirm that they are familiar with and accept all stipulations in these rules.
Participants in the 100 kilometer walk ‘100 van Leeghwater’ aim to complete a defined route of 100 km walking within 24 hours. Nordic walking is permitted provided that other hikers are not hindered. All other means of transport, whether mechanical or not, are not approved.
On the start date participants in the 100 km walk ‘100 van Leeghwater’ are present on the start location 2 hours from the start point to 30 minutes from the start point. The start time is the same for all participants. Due to staffing of the check points and securing the route the organization does not deviate from this planning.
Participants in the 100 km walk ‘100 van Leeghwater’ do so at their own risk.
Participants in the 100 km walk ‘100 van Leeghwater’ follow the designated route.
Participants in the 100 km walk ‘100 van Leeghwater’ are 18 years or older.
Participants in the 100 km walk ‘100 van Leeghwater’ do not bring any pets.
Participants in the 100 km walk ‘100 van Leeghwater’ are obliged to observe the traffic rules as a pedestrian. In urban areas this means walking on the pavements, or on the right side of the road, and outside urban areas walking on the left side of the road.
Participants in the 100 km walk ‘100 van Leeghwater’ are obliged to follow the instructions of traffic guards, crossing supervisors, and other staff of Stichting ‘100 van Leeghwater’
Participants in the 100 km walk ‘100 van Leeghwater’ accept and observe the order to cease from a staff member of Stichting 100 van Leeghwater. This order can be given:
– on medical grounds, by the paramedics of Stichting 100 van Leeghwater.
– on practical grounds, by other staff members of Stichting 100 van Leeghwater, when the participant is not able to finish before the designated finishing time.
Participants in the 100 km walk ‘100 van Leeghwater’ are obliged to wear a reflective safety vest. If necessary the foundation may impose additional obligations for safety.
Participants in the 100 km walk ‘100 van Leeghwater’ shall act according to the guideline ‘what I wouldn’t want to happen in my own home or garden, I will not do here’. They do not leave litter, and listen to music only using headphones, to avoid nuisance for other participants. They will use sanitary facilities properly. When walking through a village at night they make as little noise as possible, and keep their voices down.
Participants in the 100 km walk ‘100 van Leeghwater’ are walking. Other activities during the walk, are not appreciated.
Participants in the 100 km walk ‘100 van Leeghwater’ wear their stamp card visibly around the neck.
Participants in the 100 km walk ‘100 van Leeghwater’ accept any decision that the foundation board make take, in cases not included in these rules.
